Morning Workshops

1. “Taking A.C.T.I.O.N.: A Community Food Assessment and Urban Agriculture.” Presenters: Teens in The POINT CDC advocacy program

2.”Greening Schools: Green Roof Project at Alfred E. Smith, Garden to Café at John F. Kennedy and the Environmental Board at Nightingale-Bamford.” Presenters: Students from Alfred E. Smith Career & Technical Education High School, John F. Kennedy High School and the Nightingale-Bamford School.

3. “How to Win Better Biking in the Bronx.” Presenter: Transportation Altnernatives

4. “What’s On Your Plate?” A mini-screening with Director Catherine Gund. Discussion on the food environment in schools with Sarah Frank, HealthCorps; Karissa Francis, DeWitty Clinton High School, Students from West Side High School.

Afternoon Workshops:

1. “Sports Nutrition – How Our Bodies Process Energy.” Presenters: Eatwise Teens, Food Bank for NYC

2. “Express Ur Self: A Workshop for Young Filmmakers.” Presenters: Michael Medieros, Director of Underground; Students from University Heights High School and Monroe Academy for Visual Arts & Design.

3. “The Soda Tax: Canning Freedom or New York’s Sweet Savior.” Presenters: Sarah Frank and Linden Elder, HealthCorps; Students from Edward A. Reynolds West Side High School and the High School for Law and Public Service.

4. “My School, My Community, My Food – Youth Advocates Creating Change in Their Schools and Community.” Presenters: The Children’s Aid Society at MS 293; WATCH High School; Youth Advisory Boards of the Bronx District Public Health Office.

5. “Bodega Down Bronx.” A screening with director Jonathan Bogarin. Discussion on food choices at the neighborhood bodega with Patricia Llanos, Healthy Bodegas Initiative; NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; Students from Metropolitan High School.

11 15 AM: Vegan Cooking with Joy Pierson from Candle Cafe and NY Coalition for Healthy School Food.

1 45 PM: Healthy and Delicious Cooking with Ebeth Johnson from Conscious Cravers.
