Icebreakers
Morning Workshop:
- Welcome and thank everyone for being there (make them feel at home and comfortable)
- Introduce yourself – Name, Age, School, Why you are working on this event/how you got involved.
- Introduce the workshop organizers
- Briefly say what you will be doing in the workshop (this is exciting!)
- Introduce your kick-off game to help us get to know each other and loosen up.
- Teach them how to play Whoosh! Bong!
- Continue with the workshop
- Stop 5 minutes before the end of the workshop no matter where you are
- Ask everyone to come back to the circle
- Do the Wrap-Up Web Game to finish
- Thank everyone for coming
How to Play Whoosh! Bong!
- The group stands in a circle
- Explain that players can either Whoosh (pass along in same direction), Bong (block and change directions) or Zap (pass across the circle)
- Demonstration the sounds and motions
- The leader starts with a Whoosh
- Try to keep the game going quickly.
- Optional Elimination Rules: If someone pauses for more than a couple seconds or passes the wrong way/says the wrong sound you can eliminate them.
- Play for 5 minutes
- Have a round of applause for the players
How to Play Wrap-Up Web
- The group stands in a circle
- Tell the group that this is a way to reflect on what we got out of the workshop and bring it and our new connections with us into our lives
- Explain that each player will toss the ball of yarn, while holding on to a piece of it to someone across the circle.
- Before tossing it to someone, each player should say one word that describes the workshop for them- it can be a noun or adjective.
- When everyone has spoken, use scissors to cut a length of yarn (from where they are holding it) for each player to tie into a memory/acknowledgement bracelet
- Have a round of applause for the workshop
Afternoon Workshop:

- Do the Wrap-Up Web Game to finish

How to Play Category Challenge
- The group stand in a circle
- Explain that two challengers will do category battle in the middle of the circle
- Pick two challengers and have them stand facing each other in the middle
- Have the rest of the players clap, slap their legs or alternate the two to make an exciting beat
- A player in the circle shouts out a category related to health
- The challengers take turns yelling out examples of that category as fast as they can until one of them is stumped or pauses for more than two beats
- Then a new player come to challenge the Champion
- Play for five minutes
- Have a round of applause for all the players
